This Path of Exile guide will discuss the basic tips & tricks to help you understand and make your character level up faster & enjoy the game.
What is path of exile?
Path of Exile is a free-to-play online action role-playing game or also known as an A RPG, that is based in the dark world of Wraeclast. You are an exile in this world with the ability to harness a great power that others of the land cannot.
You are able to use skill gems which are socketed into gear and supported by Link gems, this means all exiles have the ability to use whichever combination of skill gems and support gems that they wish to build around in your time in Wraeclast.
You can also interact, trade and party with other players or you can completely ignore them and play on your own. The customization and growth of power of your character as you reach endgame mapping and bosses can be crazy fun. This customization not only Springs from just the skill gems, you have to create your passive tree, the ascendance ease of your class and of course the massive pool of randomly generated loot to equip yourself with whether you found it, traded for it or even crafted it yourself.
I do recommend though trying to play your own build ideas a time or two before resorting to full-out build guides as blindly following them will provide you little benefit in the understanding of the games mechanics.
Path of Exile similar to Diablo but with different game-play, the big difference is that this game is free to play compared to DIABLO 3. You will have to choose or select one out of 7 character classes. For me, this game is more fun to play compared to any RPG game.
So the first thing that you’ll be prompted with after logging into path of Exile is which league you wish to make your character. It posses a couple variations to choose. Soft core VS. Hardcore – in soft core your character can die as many times as they like and suffer no penalties. The hardcore – if your character dies, the character is removed from the league and placed into the permanent standard softcore league.
Now that we’ve chosen the league, we have to choose what kind of character type we would like in path of Exile. There are seven character classes the Marauder, the Ranger, the witch, the Templar, the shadow, the duelist and the scion “this scion is unlocked once you reach the end of x3” in the story on any class and League. These classes are not hard to build, with specific play styles or exclusive skills.
‘Gems‘ are socketed into gears and will serve as skills. With the help of support gems, your skill will be more stronger and remember the more support gems the more stronger your skill will be. To achieve this, your sockets must be linked to each other. The maximum socket a gear will have is 6. Usually this can be seen on body Armour, 2 handed weapons and bows.
Skill Tree & Ascendancy classes
Each class starts on a different point in the same passive skill tree and has access to any of the nodes in that tree. Each class also has its own selection between three ascendancy classes which provide further power and specialization to that class, making it excel at certain types of build.
Each class also has a certain attribute affinity based on its location in the tree. The basic attributes are strength, dexterity and intelligence but some classes are purely based on one type of attribute while others are a hybrid of two or three attributes. The following attributes provide small but meaningful bonuses that stack high enough and dictate the equip requirement of skills and gear.
The first thing is to select what character suits you.
Duelist – a hybrid character class that focuses on strength & dexterity.
Templar – a hybrid character class that focuses on strength & intelligence.
Witch – Built for pure intelligence class or elemental type.
Ranger – Built for Dexterity. A hybrid character build is possible.
Marauder – Built for melee & can be a hybrid class.
Shadow – A hybrid class of dexterity & intelligence.
Scion – Unlock this character in the final area on Act 3. Various build type can be applied on this character.
LABYRINTH – Your way to ascendancy & good UNIQUE item drops. If you want an early unique item farming, well this is a good start.

POE Currency Guide
Basic currency guide in path of exile – POE currency system is not based on gold or platinum etc., instead trading is done using certain items that are known.
Scroll of Wisdom – allows you to identify all of your unidentified items.
Portal scroll – allows you to return to the town for the current act that you are in.
Blacksmith’s Whetstone – allow you to increase the quality of certain items like the quality of weapons resulting in a higher base damage.
Armourer’s Scrap – for the weapon, the armor scrap does similar for pieces of armor granting you higher armor or higher evasion or higher energy shield based off the type of armor augmented.
Glassblowers Baubles – allow you to increase the quality of flasks which will increase the amount of health or mana received during the flasks use.
Gem Cutters Prisms – increase the quality of your skill gems resulting in higher damage or defense.
Cartographer’s Chisel – which allows you to increase the quality of maps and by increasing the quality you increased drop rates inside the map.
Jeweler’s Orb – used to re-roll the number of sockets a piece of gear. Remember that Body armour and two-handed weapons can have a maximum of 6 sockets while the rest of your armor can have 4 and one-handed weapons can have 3.
Orb of Fusing – can re-roll the links between your sockets linked and allow you to link your main skill to support skill gems that can increase the damage or effectiveness of that main skill. The more links the more support gems that can be connected.
Chromatic Orb – re-roll the colors of the sockets and are useful in getting the proper socket colors to match your main skill gem with your desired support gems.
Orb of Transmutation – this will take a normal quality item into a blue magic item granting it another or more stats.
Orb of Augmentation – allowing you to add one or more stats to a blue magic item.
Orb of Alteration – allowing you to re-roll the magic item with new random stats.
Orb of Chance – this will allow you to turn a normal item into one of random rarity it can become a magic blue item or a rare yellow item and there is even a small chance of rolling a unique.
Regal Orb – will allow you to upgrade a magic item to a yellow rare item.
Orb of Alchemy – which allows you to turn a normal item into a rare item.
Blessed Orb – re-roll the numeric value of the implicit stat on an item.
Divine Orb – re-roll the numerical values of all random stats.
Chaos Orbs – are pretty much the standard currency meaning the rest of the currencies are pretty much based off the chaos orbs value. Chaos orbs will allow you to randomly re-roll rare items with different stats and can be useful when you’re trying to get the right stats on your 5 or 6 linked piece of gear.
Exalted Orb – can be used to add a new random property to a rare item most. It is expensive, well perhaps with the exception of the mirror which would be here but I have never seen one ever a mirror would allow you to duplicate any item so if you had a really really awesome item you could duplicate it and then sell one and keep on exalts. Exalted orbs are usually worth somewhere around 30 chaos depending on the timing of the league.
Vaal orbs – allow you to corrupt an item, when you corrupt an item you modify it unpredictably usually resulting in a useless piece of gear or can occasionally make something truly epic.
Orb of Scouring – allowing you to turn any item into one of normal quality and removing all stats with the exception of any implicit stats that belong to that item. l
Orb of Regret – very useful as they allow you to take back a skill point from the enormous skill tree allowing you to fix mistakes or change your build.
